MPhil/PhD Application Process
There is variation in application process for MPhil / PhD programme for every university and county. These are demanding courses requiring independent research and personal initiative, a big step up from a traditional taught master programme. A research degree involves the in-depth study of one particular area of academic interest and is specifically designed for students who are interested in academia.
We at East West Consultants can help you successfully be accepted on to a PhD degree in your chosen University. We will also advise you on your choice of university and edit your personal statement and proposal into what an admissions panel would want to read. Our PhD Service includes:
Initial Consultation: You will meet one of our counsellors to discuss your academic background and ambition and decide which course would suit you. This meeting is free, and can be arranged any day during working hours.
Completion of application forms: These can be complex and time consuming, and must be filled in with total accuracy. We will assist you to do this or can do this for you.
Editing of CV and personal statement: We will review your CV and personal statement because at this level your personal statement and CV must look immaculate and sound impressive. We will ensure that they are according to the requirement if anything to change we will advise you accordingly.
Application follow up: We will ensure completed and error free application submission and will liaise with the university to keep track of your application and ensure you are updated at all times. In UK University take 6 to 8 weeks in consideration of MPhil & PhD application.
Interview practice: Interviews at this academic level are intellectually rigorous. We will guide you about the interview questions and assist you in preparation for the interview.

The proposal is the most important document that you submit as part of the application process. We will edit the research proposal to iron out any weaknesses, ensuring it is academically correct and is the best it can be.
When do I apply and what are the requirements?
The deadline for applying for an MPhil or a PhD varies depending on the university. We recommend you apply no later than March to begin studying in September/October. Requirements: In UK University take 6 to 8 weeks in consideration of MPhil & PhD application.
An undergraduate degree with at least an upper second class honours or a postgraduate master’s degree
• Minimum IELTS score of 7.0 or above
A research proposal of 1500-2500 words
A supervisor will be required
Research Proposal
Your research proposal should be 1500-2500 words and include the following:
A tentative title for your intended research Area to be investigated
Abstract- a concise statement of your intended research issue, question or hypothesis
The likely methods and techniques to be used in the investigation
The relationship of the proposed research to the published literature and current research in your field, and an indication of the contribution your thesis would make
Details of work you have already done in the proposed field
Your suitability as a researcher for the proposed project
Bibliography
The proposal enables the academic staff responsible for selecting applicants to assess:
Your competence in the proposed field of study
Your ability to conduct a research programme independently
The nature of the supervision required
